Brian Kemp for Secretary of State Insider Update 8/31/09

Hello Kemp Means Business Team!
The weeks keep rolling by as we get closer and closer to the primary. We had a busy week this past week and finished it off with a busy Saturday.

Joined by my campaign Co-Chair Clay Newman, we attended the Newton County GOP BBQ on Monday. We have great support in Newton County including Senator John Douglas, Representative Doug Holt, Commissioner Tim Fleming and former Commissioner Ester Fleming. There was a really good crowd and it was nice to see Congressman John Linder who stopped by to say hello to everyone and show his support of the event.

Tuesday, Representative Steve Davis was kind enough to invite us to his fundraiser in McDonough. At the event I was able to meet a number of new people as well as see some old friends.

Wednesday I went to the state Elections Board meeting. It was time well spent as I was able to talk with some of the folks there and pick their brains about various issues concerning the Secretary of State's office.

Friday, Representative Mark Hamilton put together a few meet and greets in Cumming, GA. We started with breakfast and went through lunch all the while having different groups come and go. We are thankful to Brian and Kelly Tam for their hospitality while in their restaurant, Tam's Backstage, where we ate breakfast and lunch.

Following lunch, Senator Chuck Clay and Josh Mackey assembled a group of people together for us to meet in Marietta. From there, Senator Clay and Josh took us around the square in Marietta and introduced us to a number of people. These are the kinds of things that keep our campaign moving in the right direction.

Saturday was a full day complete with a trip to Perry to attend the Governor's 6th annual Fish Fry. After seeing some supporters down there we hit the road heading up to the Dekalb County GOP BBQ. Both were great events where we were able to meet new people and continue spreading our message.

We had 20 volunteers make the trip with us to Perry and 14 of those 20 went to both Perry and to Dekalb! Winning campaigns must have folks willing to help out with all kinds of things and we are fortunate to have volunteers who will do just that!

Thanks again for all you do. Our campaign's success up to this point is due to you.

Victory in 2010,

Brian

Hello Kemp Means Business Team!
The Kemp Means Business Tour had yet another great week out on the campaign trail. Our campaign continues to build momentum across the state!

Joining business and community leaders from across Georgia, we attended the Georgia Chamber Congressional Luncheon in Perry this past week. The crowd of thousands of chamber leaders and local officials from across Georgia joined by many of our key supporters from the area including Dave Cyr and County Commission Chairman Ned Sanders greeted us warmly. We received a lot of feedback that our campaign is leading the pack.

While in Houston County, my good friend and old roommate from my time in the Senate, Senator Ross Tolleson, took us around town. We met with a number of local elected officials, Republican party leaders, community leaders and small business owners. To name a few, we met with the folks at Davis Oil, Two Friends, Coldwell Banker, Tolleson Lumber Company and Edgewood Development Group. We added a number of new Kemp Means Business Team Members that day!

The following day we hopped on I-75 and headed south to Cordele where we had a meet and greet hosted by another good friend Buddy Leger. The meet and greet was a great opportunity for us to visit with some old and new supporters who are really excited about the campaign.

Saturday, David and I went to the Columbia County GOP breakfast and met with a great crowd of people while Josh went to the Banks County Republican Breakfast. It was really good to see everyone. After the breakfast in Columbia we had a meeting with a group of local leaders working to put together a fund-raiser in east Georgia.

Winning campaigns always have groups of dedicated supporters across the state. It is humbling and exciting to see so many enthusiastic supporters across Georgia.

In the News
While in Perry we were interviewed by a reporter who writes for a number of papers in central and south central Georgia. He assured us his article will be in all 5 papers that cover 4 counties. When those articles are published I will be sure to send them along.

At WSST-TV 55, the T.V. station in Cordele, we were on "Mid-Day Magazine" with Phillip Streetman who has been in broadcasting for 47 years! It was great for him to let us be on his show. We also met with the Cordele Dispatch and will be in an upcoming addition of the paper.

Earned media opportunities like these are continuing to play a major role in our campaign.

Thanks again for all you do. Our campaign's success so far is because of your support.

Victory in 2010,

Brian

Brian Kemp for Secretary of State Insider Update 8/19/09

Hello Kemp Means Business Team!
Another week has flown by! We were on the road a good bit of last week and had the chance to meet and talk with a number of friends and supporters.

The good folks of northwest Georgia rolled out the red carpet for us when we came to visit for a couple days last week. While there, we had a meet and greet at "Worley's Outback" organized by my good friend Senator Jeff Mullis. During the "get-together", I was able to talk with and earn the endorsements of some more local elected officials.

From there, we went out into the community and made a few stops. We went to the county government office in Catoosa County and talked with a number of the county employees. In addition, we stopped at a few local small businesses and talked with the folks there about various concerns they had directly affected by the Secretary of State's office.

After doing a radio show Thursday morning we made the drive from Dade County, GA to Henry County, GA! It was a long drive, but well worth it for the good lunch event we were able to attend with the Republican Women of Henry County. They had a good crowd there and were appreciative of my common sense approach to the Secretary of State's office.

In the News
While in Northwest GA we were fortunate enough to be on the Judy O'Neal show Wednesday night. The show is carried by UCTV and serves both Walker and Catoosa counties. It was a pleasure to be on the show and to be able to talk with Judy and Keith about my campaign and ideas for the Secretary of State's office.

Thursday morning, as I mentioned earlier, I was on the radio with Evan and Don on the K-WIN morning show in Trenton. They interviewed me about my campaign and what I hope to do when elected.

We continue to use earned media to spread our message throughout the state.

Again, thanks so much for being on board with my campaign. Don't hesitate to let me or the campaign staff know if you need anything.

Brian

Brian Kemp for Secretary of State Insider Update 8/10/09 Greetings Kemp Means Business Team!
Welcome to the next edition of our weekly "Insider Update." We have been busy and I want to update you on our progress.

This past week we had a great time making our way through Northeast Georgia with my good friend State Senator Jim Butterworth. We had lunch in Franklin County with our county chair David Phillips and some local elected officials.

Then we headed to Habersham County making stops to meet with several different groups in and around Cornelia. We talked mostly to these folks about job creation and economic development in this part of the state. We ended the day by speaking to a great crowd at the Towns County GOP where I was able to share my vision for the Secretary of State's office. On this trip we earned the endorsements from more local elected officials and secured the help of many other grassroots leaders.

Last Saturday, the Kemp Team including Marty and the girls attended the GOP BBQ in Barrow County. The Barrow County folks helped to get me elected when I first ran for the State Senate and they are now ready to help me be Georgia's next Secretary of State and for that we are very grateful. Many thanks to the Barrow County GOP for putting on a great event!

In the News
After seeing some of our good friends and supporters in Gainsville last week Martha Zoller was kind enough to allow me to share my vision for the office of Secretary of State on her radio talk show. A recording of this interview is supposed to be up on the following website at some point in the near future if you would like to listen.
Me on the Martha Zoller radio show

What's Next?
The Kemp Means Business Tour is headed to Northwest Georgia for a meet and great with my good friend State Senator Jeff Mullis and several of our other legislative supporters in that area. Following our Northwest Georgia tour, we are headed back to Henry County for a Republican Women's luncheon.

We are rolling along and thanks again for all your help with the campaign.

Brian

Hello Kemp Means Business Team!
Beginning this week, I will be sending to you a regular update of all that is going on with the campaign. Your support and hard work is the key to our success and I want to make sure you are "in the loop" as if you were in the campaign headquarters every day.

kemp1.jpgKemp Means Business Tour Stops
Last Saturday, the Kemp Means Business Tour made a stop at the Republican Rally in Rome. The speakers and attendees made it a great event. Senator Isakson was among those in attendance and delivered a great speech on health care and how significant this issue is to Georgia's families.

It's great to have Johnny working so hard for us up in DC. I'm honored to run on the ticket he will head up and to call him a friend.

Two weeks ago, we attended two events in North Georgia. First, we had a great reception at the GOP breakfast in Rome. The folks there were very supportive and ready to get involved in the campaign! Here is an article about our visit in the Rome News-Tribune.

We also had a great time at the 9th District GOP BBQ held in Gilmer County where I was able to meet and talk with a number of supporters. Congratulations to Doug Grammer who is the new 9th District GOP chair!
